A mission to rescue babies that would otherwise be abandoned is definitely something worth supporting. That’s why we’re so excited about The Drop Box, a film that weaves together several stories and demonstrates how numerous lives have been impacted by this very cause.
- It is the story of a young father whose special-needs son opened his eyes to the inherent dignity and value of every human life.
- It is the story of a brash young filmmaker who traveled to the other side of the world to make an award-winning social justice film, only to have his own life turned upside down, resulting in a personal decision of eternal consequence.
- It is a story about orphans—and there are more than 150 million of them worldwide—and a challenge to each and every one of us to consider what role we might play in advocating on behalf of these precious children.
This new behind-the-scenes video brings some of these stories and ideas together and explains how they contribute to the unified whole that is The Drop Box.
While the filmmakers set out to focus on a pastor and a small team of volunteers who are rescuing babies off the streets, the documentary quickly became about so much more.
Brian Ivie, the director of the documentary, sums up the central message of The Drop Box like this:
“God’s love is gritty and messy and goes to the gutters for the broken and the lost people.”
We couldn’t agree more. Be sure to watch the video to see why we’re so excited!
